Whether you're just starting or you're a CrossFit veteran, our coaches are here to lead you step-by-step. Each of our coaches holds at least a L-1 CrossFit Certification and have years of CrossFit experience. 

Brad Lessman

Head Coach/Owner

Brad was introduced to CrossFit and has continued in CrossFit since 2015. He received his CrossFit Level 1 Trainer Certificate in 2016. He then earned his USA Powerlifting Certificate in 2017. In 2020 Brad earned his CrossFit Level 2 Trainer Certificate.

He continues to grow in knowledge and appreciates how much CrossFit improves a person's life outside the gym. This is what makes CrossFit perfect for everyone of all ages and fitness levels. As a part-time PE teacher, Brad is involved with all different levels of training and fitness.

As head coach of CrossFit Tempest, he works diligently to help each member to grow stronger and to move properly to avoid any injuries. This goal and these standards will help all people experience improved quality of life in both work and play outside of the gym.

Jamie Murray 

Coach

Jamie struggled with finding that ever-elusive it thing that keeps you motivated and active. This caused some struggles with the military physical fitness test. She got sick of the struggle and started reading about fitness and nutrition. Through trial and error, she made progress on her own. In 2014 she had the honor of being part of the SD Comprehensive Soldier and Family Fitness Program Team as an instructor teaching SD National Guard Soldiers fitness, nutrition, and resiliency skills to help them become successful in their military careers. One of the instructors/friends had their L-1 and exposed her to CrossFit. It was love at first deadlift! In her quest to know more about fitness she decided to work towards her personal trainer certification. The end of 2014 she passed the ACE Personnel Trainer Certification test and is still maintaining it. Jamie continued at-home CrossFit workouts supplied by her friend but was still craving the community. When CrossFit finally came to Mitchell she joined without hesitation in the summer of 2017. In October 2018 she went to the L-1 course and received her L-1, so she could help out where needed at the gym. She also shared her love of CrossFit on her 2019-2020 deployment to Iraq with fellow soldiers. The thing she loves about CrossFit is the scalability makes it for everyone and the community keeps you coming back.

Kevin Erdmann

Coach

My first exposure to CrossFit was in 2019 at age 39 and I have been an active member of CrossFit Tempest since. Prior to CrossFit did not consider myself as an athletic type of person. I had tried various different workout programs over the years but couldn’t stick with any of them. CrossFit was the first platform where I was challenged in different ways, motivated to work harder, and learn more.

The community at CrossFit Tempest has supported me, developed my skills, and pushed me forward giving me the best fitness level in my life. After two and a half years of attending classes I made the decision to take my CrossFit experience to the next level and became a Level 1 coach.

As a “typical” and “average” person I look forward to working with new members to start their journey at CrossFit Tempest teaching them that CrossFit is for anyone at any fitness level. I am also looking forward to working with experienced members to continue challenging them and honing their skills taking them to the next level.
